Meng and the Media

As a self-professed New York City politics junkie, I have been prowling local newspapers and blogs getting the who’s who and on goings of politicians, leaders, and decision makers in my area. I know random details about my local City Councilmembers, State Assemblymembers, State Senators, and Congressmembers, and thanks to the multitude of free Queens newspapers widely available at the libraries, I am always updated on stories regarding developments, elections, controversies, etc. I had recognized yet ignored the lack of diversity concerning those in power; the people I had read about were mostly white men. Despite my personal disconnect with the aforementioned individuals, I held deep respect for some of the leaders in my district.
